Vintage 1959 Rolex 6542 Steel GMT Master Watch With Original Bakelite Bezel B&P
CALL US TO PURCHASE THIS WATCH
Extremely rare example of a fully original and complete Rolex GMT model 6542 from 1959. This watch has the most amazing color gilt writing and track on the black original dial. Just fully serviced on February this year. The watch still has the original stem tube which I opted to not have replaced in order to make it swim proof, preferring to keep fully original. I know I will get a barrage of questions about originality, please note this watch is 100% original other than the likelihood that the acrylic crystal being changed during its 66 years. The Geiger counter still reads positive for Radium also showing the originality of the dial and bezel. The bracelet is a fully linked spring Oyster dated the 4th quarter of 1958 in unreal condition. The dial and bezel colors are amazing, the Bakelite bezel is the original with a light crack just after the 12 marker, other than that it is in amazing condition for the age and material used. Unlike most Vintage Rolex watches this comes with all original box, warranty papers, manual. The original date of purchase was May 10th 1960 in Chicago. The bezel is very tight and due to the fragility of the Bakelite it should not be twisted or turned. While being serviced I specifically asked the watch repairer to leave it alone as the aesthetics of the bezel is far more important than it being able to rotate.
