Extremely rare Rolex 6542 from 1959 in 18K gold totally original. This is an amazing example of the first Rolex GMT model offered in stunning original condition. The original Bakelite bezel insert only has a few little blemishes but zero cracks at all. Also the dial, bezel and 24 hour hand still reads positive on a Geiger counter. Fitted with a burgundy handmade crocodile strap with a factory gold plated buckle. The dial is truly spectacular as are the hands as well. So few of these models were made in Gold as it was really introduced for pilots to use as you can easily alter the second time zone without removing from your wrist. The majority were made in steel and very few offered in the much more expensive gold version.
This watch also comes with the original box (insert was destroyed and removed many, many years ago). Original factory manual and stamped and dated open papers showing the sale date in 1961.
